face it if there were a jesus and he were to come back he would beg for a cross in a hurry.
I am a bit more used to the place and am not at all sure. As a part of long standing depression and
chronic pain I seem to have some sort of state of being that has become ok with being alive in any given moment and the rest can be set to the side.
Self-Definition
I concede myself as a self aware consciousness. I further see myself as human, male, presenting masculine straight. Tall, balding, overweight, glasses wearing and spiritual come in to that picture too. Depression, fibromyalgia and diabetes all play into a picture of me.

Ok face it Bambi is a boy's name!
Ok I am not bright. I personally do not believe in a Guiding Creator God though I have a vague conception of a prime mover of the universe I name Genetrix Prime, A divine feminine. I do not believe in God or Gods in the usual sense of mono and poly theists but do have experience with non corporeal companions that can be as helpful as the bodied folk that I bump elbows with. These may be part of my own mind sane or insane but I do and have experienced them so no need for belief. Meditation does effect the mind and body (not agreeing that they are separate).
If I am solely an end product of a cosmic accident i am ok with that but it does not mean that Humans do not have capabilities that are not yet understood.
Ok, love ya! buh bye!

In My Years I Have Buried Thousands of Lesser People... They were all those that pretended to be me in so very many yesterdays. I am no more the man that arrived at University in 1978 than I am the boy that stood naked with pilfered scallions. I am, today, not the man that inhabited my place in the mystical day that came before.
Being Ill brings depression so much closer to the surface. the division of energies i guess.

Before I was a teen I had a few quirks worked out. I had a bottle of Southern Comfort and later even Cognac, all mine, and mixed drinks from a playboy magazine. I ate frozen butter tarts. I branded myself.
I have retired as a drunk.
I still indulge in sweets to my diabetic detriment but not so often but still to ease a kind of pain.
I do not sear my flesh with heated wire but worry small wounds to larger ones; giving way to fresher scars and lingering open sores.
Some times i do not give way on what is important and lose just the same. Yes the politics are important.
When can I pass on the pains that I have no reason to retain?

The Saskatchewan (Conservative) Party is asking the Courts to rule on two possible hate legalization laws. These laws focus on Marriage Commissioners, who are licensed to do legal marriages by the government, being permitted to refuse clients seeking same sex marriages.
The Government has missed an opportunity here. The law should seek to allow any person or agency contracted or licensed to perform civil duties the right to enforce their own deeply held convictions. Notary's Public could deny service to First Nations peoples because they always lie. Motor License Issuer's could refuse women permits because driving is immodest and women can't drive anyway. The Marriage Commissioners should also be able to refuse to do Inter-racial Marriages as well as inter-faith ones. Poll Clerks should be able to deny Roman Catholic voters as they are just pushing a Papist ideology.
Lets face it if one group of Government endorsed agents is allowed to opt out of serving part of the population why should any other agent not have the same right to opt out of serving any part of the population? Then, why not those in direct employ of the government as well?
If this government is going to endorse legalized hate then they must make the playing field level in the interest of basic human rights.

I do not have to look far or hard for the damage done by Religionists or patriots come to think of it.
Is this the reason for the rise in atheist awareness campaigns in the part of the world that it is safe to mount such a thing? These media notes tell us that Atheists do not fly into buildings, kill doctors, or strap explosives around themselves to become human bombs.
I do not see it taking too long before the anti-theist/religionist fanatics move to violence to "promote" their causes of hate.
It all works well for the powerful for people to hate so the rational atheist must be pushed to become someone that hates. anti-theism and anti-religionism are tools. Who is being used?

Truth is a fiction wrapped handily in grander lies such as "Justice," Religion and Law. Honour and Integrity do exist but are often tainted by Truth and the containers that define it.

Last evening our car was hit by a truck in a parking lot. I was suprised and did not know what had happened. When I saw i was upset. When the driver of the truck was upset i became angry. Anger spawned anger. reason was not near me nor was peace. I blamed his hitting my car on the alberta plate.
I was upset because the government in the form of SGI would be stealing from me again so soon.
I was accused of racism but could truthfully deny that charge; He, in my mind had deprived my family of a thing. race was not at issue.
I was stopped when he hit me. I have an impression but not knowledge that he was on the phone. I felt and feel that i had moved in a safe way in the parking lot. A woman three cars back felt differently.
DDW does not like conflict and worked to calm us both down. she succeeded. mostly.
still angry I hurt her. I put blame on her for things she did not do. for admitting fault, for helping the other driver. the first she did not do and the latter is and was the right thing to do.
SGI will steal from my family. I will try to find my own peace. with luck it will stay with me.
Namaste
I am sorry I greeted my brother with anger when we both were distressed

I try to opt out of belief despite identifying as pagan. In general i go for the idea of accepting possibilities and creating understandings of my own experiences.
I allow others the option of experiencing the world on their own terms.
I must ask the "scientific" antitheists if they personally can prove why lights come on when they flip a switch or if they are just accepting someone's assurances of how electricity works? I have just as much trouble with the violence of antitheists as I do with that of the religious.
That said I do not see many atheists or antitheists talking their kids into dying because of their beliefs as some religionists do. I think that "big pharma" is evil in that it creates dis-ease to go with new meds and that the policy of profit over humanity is vile but see the return of polio and other preventable infections because of the delusion of the anti vaccine movement as a parallel evil.
Douglas Adams did not get the idea of fairies in the garden which is sad as his greatest contributions were analogous to those fairies. 42.
Truths are not constants. well with the possible exclusion of love.

Tips for dealing with people in pain:
Tips for dealing with people in pain:
Tips for dealing with people in pain
Ideas for friends & family
1. People with chronic pain seem unreliable (we can't count on ourselves). When feeling better we promise things (and mean it); when in serious pain, we may not even show up. Pain people need the "rubber time" (flexible) found in South Pacific countries and many aboriginal cultures.
2. An action or situation may result in pain several hours later, or even the next day. Delayed pain is confusing to people who have never experienced it.
3. Pain can inhibit listening and other communication skills. It's like having someone shouting at you, or trying to talk with a fire alarm going off in the room. The effect of pain on the mind can seem like attention deficit disorder. So you may have to repeat a request, or write things down for a person with chronic pain. Don't take it personally, or think that they are stupid.
4. The senses can overload while in pain. For example, noises that wouldn't normally bother you, seem too much.
5. Patience may seem short. We can't wait in a long line; can't wait for a long drawn out conversation.
6. Don't always ask "how are you" unless you are genuinely prepared to listen - it just points attention inward.
7. Pain can sometimes trigger psychological disabilities (usually very temporary). When in pain, a small task, like hanging out the laundry, can seem like a huge wall to high to climb over. An hour later the same job may be quite OK. It is sane to be depressed occasionally when you hurt.
8. Pain can come on fairly quickly and unexpectedly. Pain sometimes abates after a short rest. Chronic pain people appear to arrive and fade unpredictably.
9. Knowing where a refuge is, such as a couch, a bed, or comfortable chair, is as important as knowing where a bathroom is. A visit is much more enjoyable if the chronic pain person knows there is a refuge if needed. A person with chronic pain may not want to go anywhere that has no refuge (e.g. no place to sit or lie down).
10. Small acts of kindness can seem like huge acts of mercy to a person in pain. Your offer of a pillow or a cup of tea can be a really big thing to a person who is feeling temporarily helpless in the face of encroaching pain.
11. Not all pain is easy to locate or describe. Sometimes there is a body-wide feeling of discomfort, with hard to describe pains in the entire back, or in both legs, but not in one particular spot you can point to. Our vocabulary for pain is very limited compared to the body's ability to feel varieties of discomfort.
12. We may not have a good "reason" for the pain. Medical science is still limited in its understanding of pain. Many people have pain that is not yet classified by doctors as an officially recognised disease. That does not reduce the pain, - it only reduces our ability to give it a label, and to have you believe us.
From Sharon Roe - UK
common law, civil, religious, living in sin, shacking up, married, civil union, matrimony, marriage all say something about choices people make about living mutual lives.
they represent agreements, contracts if you will, about being together.
Provincial governments in Canada allow some mainstream religions to do some hocus pocus that the government will accept as a "legal" marriage and they make some provisions for a civil ceremony that also fits the "legal" thing. Common law is this thing where you get the obligations and some of the rights of a legal marriage if you live together too long or long enough though the assumption only seems to apply to straight couples.
in my opinion Churches nor government officiants nor random time limits marry people.
People marry. People choose to form a unit.
Institutions need to get the fuck out of the way of consenting adults defining themselves as family.
Right now we have laws that are contrary to our own Constitution and Bill of Rights. The laws that allow one religious officiant file legal papers but do not allow others favour one religion or type of religion over another.
Allow me to set a definition: Plural Marriage is the consensual union of more than two adults as a family Unit. This can mean a Nice Muslim family with one fellow and up to 4 wives, a radical Mormon Polygamous family, 3 women coming together, or three traditionally married couples becoming a family of three women and three men. The permutations are endless and wonderful.
We have a fellow in government that claims "Canada's Values" cannot allow this. A nation cannot have values. A government is in place to protect the rights of all not to enforce a moral stance. If the rights of a minority are trampled in the rush to enforce the ideals of one parochial vision then it is a short trip to see the opinion of Theocratic ruling classes taking hold in all areas of Canadian society.
If this is to be allowed will we have laws forbidding the practice of your religion? Banning people of colour from white establishments? Maybe people that do not fit the right demographic will be denied the vote; after all its not that long ago that the First Nations of Canada were not allowed to vote and women only got to do that a bit before.
Government is in place to protect the people. Making sure that there are not forced Unions is one place that they have a role in marriage. Assuring that people get fair value from the family unit when it totally or partially breaks down is another. (I think it could be done better than having competing lawyers draining the finances of the families)
Consider that if you want to forbid some group its will and rights yours may well be next. What Cult will choose the "One Right and True Way" in the end?

Though I am Pagan i am not a believer. I cannot define as atheist nor agnostic either. My experience indicates that there my be something beyond my self (which as good Buddhists know likely does not exist) but i await more experience.
I accept possibilities. I know that the assertion of absolutes is a fairly sure way to be wrong.
I tend toward Science and Reason with the proviso that any technology, sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magick. (apologies to and acknowledgement of A.C. Clark) We do not know the limits of the universe, the depths of our oceans or the limits of human ability.
I understand the need to take a stand in the face of the lunacy of faith and belief forced by government and other powerful institutions. but what I do not get is the rise of Antitheism and the dogmatic faith based assertion that there is no god. A reasonable atheist says i do not believe in god but being rational does not equate the absence of proof or that disbelief as proof of absence.
i await experience. In some cases i trust that those dong science can better understand some things than I do as I lack both experience and the skills to interpret the results of experience as described. I do this with scholarly study of the Bible, and why lights come on when I flip a switch. I do not believe nor take this on faith but rather i await understanding through further work in the areas. I will adjust my own understandings based on new information.
That the bible is not True, Truth is not proof that there may not be a divinity that made some effort to be involved in humanity in some small isolated way. Maybe that brit was really Teusday Lobsang Rampa but even if he was the books could still be full of shit.
These antitheists posing as reasoned people are as dogmatic and faith based as those religionists they oppose. Remember while one can believe there is no god there is no proof that there is not any more than there is actual proof that there is.
maybe science will catch up. In the mean time I will get inoculations and accept the possibility of magick.

I believe in everything until it's disproved. So I believe in fairies, the myths, dragons. It all exists, even if it's in your mind. Who's to say that dreams and nightmares aren't as real as the here and now?

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumoured by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. this is consistent with Church policy on birth control and some other group's policies on non whites.
Condoms are not the answer to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa, Pope Benedict said Tuesday while on his way to the continent for a seven-day visit.

We now have a Science Minister that thinks evolution is a religious matter.
Canada's science minister, the man at the centre of the controversy over federal funding cuts to researchers, won't say if he believes in evolution.
“I'm not going to answer that question. I am a Christian, and I don't think anybody asking a question about my religion is appropriate,” Gary Goodyear, the federal Minister of State for Science and Technology, said in an interview with The Globe and Mail.
